The great Eddy Merckx tries triathlon

This is just too cool: the greatest cyclist of all time, Eddy Merckx, rode the bike leg of a triathlon today. Check out the photo:

Eddy is 59 and recently started riding his bike again, and has lost a lot of weight over the last year. He did the 40km race in under 75 minutes (for perspective, he held the hour record in the early 1970s, and covered more than 49 kilometers on a track bike; that corresponds to doing a 40km time trial in under 49 minutes with no aero equipment). He retired from professional bike racing in 1977.
