Notes from Bastion Ross--Party--Events

Dear Bastion

What a great dance this Saturday! It goes to prove, however, that if you give a slug a deadline they will ignore it and do whatever they damn well please. I had three requests for tickets that morning at the lake. It was a great turn out with 73 members from both Bastion and ROC packing the very festively decorated Legion Hall in. The gentlemen were looking spiffy while the ladies were certainly dressed to kill. Apparently, black is the new black.
Now, during the course of the evening, some of you drank too much, some of you ate too much and some of you danced too much. A few of you managed all three. That's exactly the kind of effort we were looking for. There were interesting party games such as "Name That Food?" and some interesting draw prizes. Sadly, I'm disappointed with Dave Shillabeer. Having spent the past two weeks sucking back Margaritas and lying in the sun in Mexico at his daughter's wedding, Dave lacked the simple, common decency to turn down the grand draw prize of a weekend for two at a posh resort in Tofino. I expected more out of you, Dave.
A big thanks goes out to Judy Orosz and Kathleen Richardson for organizing the dance. Also, thanks to the Legion and its staff for their patient services, Alex Berlingette and her staff at Carrot on the Run for the endless food, and the D.J. for playing great music.
This Sunday, Nov. 27th, Women's Pace is sponsoring the Run Wild 10K for Haven House. This is for ladies only and the race starts at 9:00 A.M. at North Oyster School. The directions are, from the south, turn onto Cedar Rd. at the Omega Restaurant (after the airport) and the school is on the left about 2K. You can register at Frontrunners with race package pickup there on Saturday the 26th from 10-4. Race day registration, 8:00 -8:30 A.M. Online registration and information;

Pacific Sports is putting on the Frosty Foot Race on December 4th at Bowen Park. This perennial favorite features a 10K race, a 5K run/walk, and a 1K Tot Trot (10 and under). The Tot Trot starts at 9:45 A.M. and then at 10:00 A.M. there will be free child minding so the parents can run the 5 or 10 K. Sherri always does a great job with this and there is plenty of hot chocolate and cinnamon buns after. You can pick up registration forms at Frontrunners or the Pacific Sports building at Malaspina College. You can call 753-3245 ext1-2649 or email island@pacificsport.com . Online registration;
