Notes from Dan the Trail Guy #20

Trail Bits

A very large group of people showed up for the GutBuster Ridge Run.There were a few first time ridge runners out on Saturday that I wouldlove to get some feed back from. There were also two people that wereout for their first Saturday morning ROC Trail run. What a run to chooseas your baptizing ROC Trail run. I hope you enjoyed it. It doesn't getmuch tougher than the GutBuster route.

Everything else we run will seemlike a walk in the park to you from now on.I am happy to report that Kathleen's ankle was not broken, it was a badsprain.
Special thanks go out to Brad, Steve, Russell and Russell, Lisaand Mike, Carrie and Eric for staying and assisting to get Kathleen tothe parking lot in Morrell.

Due to popular demand the NEW START TIME for the run is 6:30 AM (summertime)

1. Membership meeting - Please do not forget that May 14th is theroc MEMBERSHIP MEETING at the ABC Country Restaurant. Right after thatweekends run. We really need a good turnout of members at the breakfastmeeting.

2. Membership Dues - If you have decided that you no longer wish tobe a member of ROC please drop me a note so I can remove your name from the membership list and the email address book. For those you that arebasically forgetful please remember to.

3. The Duncan GutBuster is May 7th. This is the home of theo riginal GutBuster race and is an amazing race route. This race routestarts and finishes at a pub. Nice and close to Nanaimo. We should tryand have a bunch of us go down.

4. Runners of Compassion technical tops - The ROC Technical topshave been ordered and will hopefully be here in about three weeks if Iunderstood Stefan correctly.

5. Okay the important stuff - The Run - This week the run willagain start from the Westwood lake Parking, but this time at 6:30am. Therun will be an easier 80-90 minute run of the trails in Morell. Peoplehave been asking to be shown around a bit more in Morrell as people seemto keep getting lost in there. We can easily do 80-90 minutes in thereat an easy pace and not run the same trail twice. The long run folks canbreak off at the end and do the extra half hour around the lake at theend.
